Tuesday Market

The cheese sandwich man was back at the market today. Dylan stared at him the entire time he was preparing his sandwich.
Dylan at the entire thing before we made it a block. Look, it's miles davis in the background.
Don't worry, there was a break in the rain so the sandwich stayed dry.

Tuesday breakfast

Is it wrong that i'm excited about my tiny new skillet? Ready for an egg.
Coffee press, this is how we do it in France.
Pressing.

Monday Randomness

One of the neighbors left a box of free dishes in the foyer. I picked up a cast iron skillet and these three glasses. They say America's Finest Beer on them... don't tell anyone it's full of panache.
Liam dressed himself after swimming.
That's right DietCoke with Orange. We also have Mojito flavored Diet Pepsi.
Cool building near the kid's school.

to school

Walking down convention.
Still no teeth.
Back up the stairs for Dylan.
Liam waits for the train on the way home.

To school

Everyone heads down the stairs as quiet as possible(something that isn't easy for Liam).
Down the block to the Metro. I'm gonna have to do something about the broken camera soon but electronics are hella expensive here.
Dylan is having some next level hair issues this fine morning.
Not even Chloe can tame this rat's nest, our solution was to pull the hood down further.
Liam concentrates on keeping his teeth out of the picture. With a strike on the B line the 6 has been wicked crowded, i had to put the camera away after this shot.

Wednesdays are half days

Dylan has found a great new place to pace as we wait to pick up the kids.
Liam is out.

We met up with Gretchen down the block.
and then back down to the metro.

Tragedy at the market

Dylan and i took a break from school to hit the market for the weeks fruits and vegetables. One of the first stalls we always hit is the Lebanese sandwich guy. His booth is usually the first or second one in the market area, today he wasn't there. Dylan stopped in front of his usual spot(occupied buy a dude selling olives) and yelled "CHEESE SANDWICH" as loud as he could.
"Oh great" I thought but i convinced D that we should walk the market and look for the cheese sandwich guy. This resulted in me doing the shopping in my horrible french while Dylan followed, stopping every 10 feet to yell "CHEESE SANDWICH" this went on for 45 minutes. Luckily there was a protest across the street at APEC that involved 4 bullhorns each with a different siren sound(it was pretty tame but i was ready to overturn and torch a car if the opportunity presented itself). On the plus side i bought a piece of cheese that smells like a goat's ass so it should be tasty.

More random Paris

What in the world? This car with a surfboard in it was parked in front of our bakery.
Clean bridge.
Not sure but it looks like crane style.
This crane is huge, unfortunately with a busted camera i didn't quite get the shot.
Big clock.

End of the day Sunday

A momentary truce.
Just walking along.
Liam is still concerted about his teeth showing in pictures.
Looking at the Seine.

Even more Sunday

Move towards the light.

Liam walks and talks.
Geting closer.

more out on Sunday

The Eiffel tower in the distance.
Stopped at a festival celebrating some corner of France. Can you spot Gretchen in this shot?
On a Pate run.
Gretchen in the thick of it.
Chloe eats pate and bread while Dylan stresses over the crowd.

Sunday in the park

Dylan sits on some weird french playground equipment.
Liam threatens to eat me like an ice cream cone, moments later he reassures me that he is just kidding.
Gretchen on the slide.
Dylan runs.
Liam picks.

Goings on

How many kids can you fit in one chair?
Three.
The moon outside the kitchen window.
Another park, this one on Rue Voltaire.

Picking up the kids

Waiting for Caleb outside the convention metro stop.
Dylan waits.
Liam waits.
We all wait for the train.
This is where Dylan paces as he waits for the kids to come out of school.

Everyone's excited about this video.

The pants

Out for the day.
Alright see the dude on the balcony with the pole? He's trying to get a pair of pants out of that tree. Apparently a girl living above him put some pants out to dry and they ended up there. That would explain the random bits of clothing i see on the streets but not the giant bag of bread i saw today on the sidewalk.
G at our metro stop.
A weird modern church.
Dylan during art period.

This week so far.

Another market day another lebanese three cheese sandwich for Dylan.
Heading home.
Liam's get to know me paper, read it carefully and appreciate what i have to deal with.
Liam never stops chasing pigeons.
Taking a break.

More fish

Twinkle Twinkle
Benched
The creepiest photo ever taken.
Wall o' Fish.

From the archive

While cleaning pictures off of my hard drive i realized that these pictures from the Oklahoma Aquarium never made it up so here they are. Liam and the octopus moments before Collette took a picture of it with a flash and killed it(the previous statement is unconfirmed).
Dylan almost five feet tall and mid clap.
Liam and his dragon touch a starfish.
Gretchen being menaced by a shark.
Dylan looking the other way, Co is fascinated.

Home school

Dylan is doing pretty well with the new home school set up.
Reading comprehension,
spelling,
letter writing and whatnot.
Pretty good days work.

Again?

D has had mac and cheese for every meal since the package arrived. I did cheat a bit and added the cheese sauce to a lot more macaroni then actually comes in the box.
Chloe got in on the cheesy goodness with a salami and mac & cheese sandwich.
Liam likes his cold.
I had to post this shot. Liam is grounded from his Ds for the afternoon so here he is watching Chloe play.

Parisien randomness

D is not good at sharing an umbrella or keeping himself dry.
D loves the Lebanese food at the market, the three cheese things are his favorite.
The Lebanese guy and his stall. Spell check really wants me to call this Lesbian food.
G is not happy about carrying te heavy bag home from the market or maybe she is upset about La Liberte.
Kids on the metro.

Noooooooo

Our favorite bar/cafe around the corner La Liberte is closed for the rest of the month!! Do you know how long it took for the dude to automatically bring out two Cruz Campos and a bowl of olives when he saw me?

Mac and Cheese

Someone sent D a few cheese packets from Kraft Mac and Cheese, no time was wasted in preparing a bowl.
You would think he would slowly savor it.
No way, he killed that bowl in minutes flat.
If anyone is looking for a birthday idea for D i think you've found it. Look at Gretchen, she can't believe he stopped to take a drink.

Samedi

Saturday we met one of Gretchen's friends in front of the church by our place. Liam sat.
Chloe sat.
Dylan paced.
We walked to the Bastile.
I took pictures of graffiti.

Friday

On Fridays Chloe and Liam get out of school at 16:00 and Caleb gets out at 18:00. The plan is to hang out at the park until he's done, this Friday it rained.
So we went to the park and chased pidgeons.
Followed ducks...
wherever they roamed,
and had a snack, all in the rain. This will become less fun for everyone involved as it gets colder.

The Cemetery

I did manage to take some pictures of nonviolated graves. Here is a famous one.
Here is another famous one. At one point i contemplated requesting something lke this for my tomb but with a even more gigantic head.
Here is the group. Dylan is not dead, he's just resting his eyes.
We are only slightly lost in this photo. They issue maps of this place it's so large. Note that i'm keeping an eye out for zombies.
In the end i decided i'd like something like this for my grave, exposed boobs and naked children, rock!

Zombie troubles

Pere Lachaise is a huge famous cemetery and it the eastern edge of the 11th arrondismont forms one of its borders. we live in the 11th. We spend a Sunday afternoon walking around this city of the dead and i noticed a very disturbing face... a lot of the graves look like something busted out of them. Some stand open like this.
others look like something kicked its way out like the one above. At first, i assumed we had a zombie problem in the neighborhood(and me without a shotgun or machete).
But after a little reflection i realized that if it were zombies then we would be over run by them and all of the graves would be empty(if horror movies have taught us nothing it's that you never have just one zombie). The logical conclusion is that we have a Vampire infestation in the neighborhood. This might explain why I can't find any garlic at the market.
If i had a broom handle i'd cut it into handy dandy stakes, as it stands i plan on hitting the flea market for a nice big crucifix.
By the way Gretchen did get annoyed that all i took at the cemetery were pictures of open graves(i have dozens) but then again she has never been very converned with vampires or zombies for that matter and that is why she probably won't survive the coming onslaught of evil.

Rebublic

Dylan working on a tooth.
Monument
We love the gaming stores on Voltaire.
These two ran back and forth for 10 minutes for soe reason.
An hour later D handed me a tooth, i assume it was his.

Moto

There is a Harley dealership just a few streets over from our apt.
Look out kid.
Next door to it is an Indian dealership and this amazing old bike is always out front. Bob find me one of these!

First day School

Things were a bit unorganized, we milled about outside the school for a good half hour.
Gretchen and a couple of kids size up the new class.
Liam is off to class.
Gretchen found herself in the fourth grade line for a moment before snatching a kiss and getting out of the way.
What no Caleb? He never broke stride, just walked right in the doors(parents can't enter) like he knew what was going on.

First day home

Kids on the couch, roughly 7:00.
Checking for supplies.
D is thrilled to be up early.
At a metro stop. The commute ends up involving three different trains and takes about an hour one way. Line six is super crowded but we get on at Nation(where it begins) so we get seats.
